Coolbaugh Township is a popular STR location as the township allows for short-term rentals in residential zoning areas with necessary permits and inspections. There are more than 800 Short-term Rental Licenses issued in the township. STR is not allowed in Commercial or Industrial zoned areas. One of them is the Pocono Heritage Land Trust, which recently submitted a bid for the Boy Scout camp, which has a history stretching back more than 90 years. Executive Director Louise Troutman was limited in what she could say because of a non-disclosure agreement, but was worried about potential competition for Camp Trexler.
For generations of Boy Scouts in the Lehigh Valley, the Trexler Scout Reservation has been a chance to get in touch with nature.
The camp features two lakes, a 65-foot climbing wall and zipline, a crafts building, hiking trails and dozens of other activities to pass a summer day.
