The crackling pop of fireworks will be heard throughout our area this week for the 4th of July.

Many enjoy the shimmering displays, for some, however, it can be traumatic.

Two men are facing multiple felonies after they allegedly abducted four women in Smithfield Township, and then held them captive.

SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two men have been charged after police say they kidnapped, bound, and raped four women in Monroe County.

According to a release from Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), on Tuesday, June 25, a call was made stating that four women had been kidnapped and that the caller had spotted two of them in a vehicle.

Mount Pocono couple charged with leaving infant on Lake George beach

More and more veterans are being helped by a program providing them free food in Monroe County. But one group would like to make it more accessible to vets in the northern part of the county.

Every third Tuesday of the month, Chaplin Mike Oser of VFW Post 3448 in Mount Pocono makes sure veterans in his area have enough food on their tables. Oser learned about the Military Share program at the Gilbert West End Memorial American Legion Post 927 about five months ago.
