ARRESTDetails MapOn April 26th, 2025 at approximately 9pm, an Officer with The Pocono Township Police Department responded to The Pocono Brewery Company in Swiftwater for a report of a theft. The owner of the business informed the officer that he had caught an employee stealing cash from the business, the employee was currently working, and the employee had cash on him that he had stolen during the current shift.
The employee, Matthew Czapkowicz, a 27 year old male from Effort PA, was confronted about the theft. Czapkowicz returned the money he had stolen on the current shift, was terminated, and trespassed from the property.
Through a subsequent investigation it was discovered that Czapkowicz had stolen cash from the business on 15 different occasions during a three week period for a total of $535.06. As a result, charges were filed for Theft by deception and receiving stolen property, both misdemeanors of the first degree.
