Presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. ARRESTDetails Map

On July 4, 2025, officers from the Pocono Township Police Department received a phone call from a employee at the Camelback Lodge, regarding their debit card being fraudulently used.  The employee, Victim #1, advised that on July 1, 2025, she received a fraud notification from her bank that her debit card was being used to make a purchase on an online shopping website.  Victim #1 advised that she checked her purse and found that the debit card was still in her purse at the time of the purchase.

Victim #1 advised another employee, Victim #2, had her debit card stolen the same day and fraudulently used at the Onvo gas station, Tannersville, and to attempt to make two purchases on the same online shopping website.  Victim #2 was contacted and confirmed that her debit card was stolen from her purse while at work at the Camelback Lodge and then used three times without her permission.

Video surveillance from the Camelback Lodge and the Onvo gas station was reviewed and Samantha M Torres, the defendant in this matter, was identified as the suspect.  Torres was confronted about the theft and fraud, at which time she confessed to stealing Victim #2's debit card and loading Victim #1's debit card information onto her cell phone's shopping application.  She then attempted to make 3 purchases with the two debit cards and used the one card to purchase gas at the Onvo.

An arrest warrant was issued for Torres for felony Access Device Fraud and associated charges. On July 22, 2025, Torres turned herself in to the Pocono Township Police Department and was arriagned by Magistrate Daniel Kresge who released her on $7,500 unsecured bail.  Torres preliminary hearing is scheduled for a later date.
