Aggravated Assault Investigation- 1159 N. 9th StreetDetails Map On Tuesday 6/10/25 at approximately 11:48 a.m., Officers responded to the area of 1159 North 9th Street for a report of a fight in the parking lot of the old Room Store. Initial callers reported that two males were fighting, additional callers reported that a black male stabbed the other male and was walking towards the rear of the building. Multiple Officers arrived on scene and took Jerry Morris, a black 26 year-old male, currently homeless, into custody.
Through investigation the following was learned:
The victim, a 60 year-old white male from Stroudsburg, was walking to the rear of the RoomStore to feed wildlife in the area. As he was walking past the abandoned building, he observed a male sleeping on the loading dock whom he believed he knew. When he approached the male and began speaking with him, he realized it was not the male he believed it to be. Morris became aggressive due to being woken up by the victim and attacked him by striking him in the face and hitting him with a belt and tree branch. The victim attempted to defend himself and retreat towards 9th Street. Morris continued to assault the victim with multiple objects, and when the victim fell to the ground, Morris attempted to "gouge" the victims eyes with his thumbs. At some point during the assault the victim also obtained a puncture would that went completely through his left hand.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for multiple injuries to include blunt force trauma to his head, ocular trauma and a brain bleed. He was eventually transported to a different hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Morris was also transported to a local hospital for lacerations and injuries. Once discharged from the hospital, Morris was transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility and charged with the following crimes:
- PA/CC 18 2501(a) - Attempted Homicide (F1)
- PA/CC 18 2702 (a)(1) Aggravated Assault (F2)
- PA/CC 18 2702 (a)(4) Aggravated Assault (F1)
- PA/CC 18 2701 (a)(1) Simple Assault (M2)
- PA/CC 18 2701 (a)(2) Simple Assault (M2)
- PA/CC 18 2705 Recklessly Endangering Another Person (M1)
- PA/CC 18 907 Possessing Instruments of Crime (M1)
Morris was arraigned this morning before MDJ Levy and his bail was denied.
