EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Empty bowls in Monroe County are helping to fully stock food pantry shelves.

Dozens are gearing up to roll up there sleeves to participate in Saturday's empty bowls event at East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.

It is part of an international event that allows local artisans to band together with their communities to fight hunger.

All of the money raised from Saturday's event will be donated to the food pantry and soup kitchen at the church.

It serves more than 300 people in our community each week.

"You come select out your bowl, whatever one's your favorite. You're served soup and sandwich and dessert and a beverage and then you get your bowl washed and you get to take it home. And again all the proceeds go to the soup kitchen in order to support hunger in the community," stated John Saunders, Organizer.

A minimum donation of 25 dollars will include a delicious lunch served in the bowl you designed.

The empty bowls event will take place at East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church tomorrow from 11:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The event will also feature a blindfolded pottery competition.
