PUBLIC NOTICE OF HEARING AND OF INTENTION TO ENACT PROPOSED ORDINANCE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Supervisors of Jackson Township will hold a public hearing on Monday, July 28, 2025 beginning at 5:00 P.M., at the Jackson Township Municipal Building, 2162 Route 715, Reeders, PA 18352. The purpose of the hearing is to consider a proposed ordinance to amend Jackson Township’s Zoning Ordinance. The proposed ordinance contains new regulations for data storage centers. At the time of the public hearing, the Supervisors will listen to comments by members of the public concerning the proposed ordinance. If substantial amendments are not offered to the draft of the proposed ordinance, the Supervisors intend to consider enactment of the proposed ordinance immediately after the public hearing. The proposed ordinance is entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF JACKSON, MONROE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, AMENDING JACKSON TOWNSHIP ORDINANCE NO. 2014-101 (CHAPTER 27, ZONING), AS AMENDED, WITH RESPECT TO DATA STORAGE CENTERS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH. The following is a brief summary of all of the provisions of the proposed ordinance, which, if adopted, will become part of Chapter 27 of the Jackson Township Code of Ordinances (i.e., the Jackson Township Zoning Ordinance): Part 1 contains general provisions including a short title, legal authority, legislative intent and purpose, and addresses legal conflicts with the proposed ordinance. Part 2 contains definitions to the amended and/or added to Section 1602 of the Zoning Ordinance. Part 3 contains other amendments including: adding “data storage center” as a conditional use in the industrial zoning district; adding “data center accessory uses” and “data center equipment” as accessory uses in the industrial zoning district; and prescribing detailed requirements for data storage centers. Part 4 provides for the ordinance to be effective 5 days after its enactment. A copy of the proposed ordinance will be posted on the Township’s website and also has been supplied to the Pocono Record and to the Monroe County Law Library. Anyone may inspect the proposed ordinance (without charge) or obtain a copy of it (for a charge not exceeding actual copying costs) at the Township’s office at the address listed above during regular business hours.
