On May 31st 2025 a approximately 05:00 P.M., employees of the Steele's ACE Hardware contacted the Pocono Township Police for a retail theft that occurred earlier that day. Security footage showed the defendant, Shayna Werner of Lehighton PA, place several items in a cart, before going off camera and moving some to her purse. She then walks out of the store with a full purse and a stolen shirt visible. She then entered a distinctly recognizable vehicle and left the property. A subsequent investigation lead to the owner of the vehicle and later the defendant. Booking photos and license photos confirmed her identity.

The defendant was charged with felony retail theft and receiving stolen property.
