Stroudsburg High School’s (SHS) Mock Trial team won its state competition on Feb. 25 and 26, with all eight judges voting unanimously 8-0 at the Monroe County Courthouse.

The Prosecution team consisted of attorneys Kona Maronpot, ‘25, Arianna Vidaic, ‘26, and Layla Macedon, ‘25, and witnesses Peter Leyba, ‘25, Colton Leeth, ‘25, and Jacob Pachter, ‘27. They competed against Notre Dame and won 4-0.

Volunteer registration open for April 26 the region-wide litter cleanup

March 10, 2025 – Celebrate Earth Day by spending time caring for the environment. The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB) is once again seeking volunteers for its region-wide litter pick-up day happening on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (rain or shine).

At a recent budget hearing, Chair of the Pa. House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee state Rep. Maureen Madden questioned the Department of Human Services about their efforts to promote the LIFE program. Madden praised the program's holistic approach and asked about the department's efforts to encourage seniors to enroll.

The bakery team makes over 7,000 fastnacht doughnuts over the course of 24 hours.

Many taxpayers were under the impression that state funding would offset school property taxes. It seems we've all been hoodwinked. We send our legislators to Harrisburg to work on our behalf, and now we're told that we're being misled. State funding MUST be linked to reducing school property taxes, or we should be allowed to stop paying school property taxes until it happens.

While they’re focusing on why they can’t wear hoodies or that it’s not super comfortable, they don’t try to understand why it’s in place.
