ARRESTDetails MapOn May 22nd, 2025, officers with the Pocono Township Police Department were dispatched to reports of a reckless driver on Route 715 in the area of the Interstate 80 eastbound off ramp (exit 299) in Tannersville, PA. The caller reported watching a black SUV crash while driving on the interstate. The caller also stated that the vehicle continued driving despite having suffered extensive damage from the crash, and was last seen exiting the interstate at exit 299.
Officers located the vehicle parked at the Roadrunner Sunoco shortly thereafter, found a male sitting in the vehicle. The male, 56 year-old Andres Betancourt Rojas from Staten Island, was identified as the driver of the vehicle during the crash. Further investigation found that Betancourt Rojas had been driving while under the influence of both alcohol and controlled substance(s).
Betancourt Rojas has been charges with multiple offenses related to driving under the influence.
