Helping veterans in need with 'stand down' in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Sunday's cold weather didn't stop volunteers from helping homeless veterans. Valor Clinic Foundation held a "stand down" in Wilkes-Barre, providing veterans in need with food, clothing, and other winter essentials. The organization regularly hosts these outreach efforts across northeastern Pennsylvania and beyond. 28/22 News spoke with one woman who looks forward to Valor's visits, especially this time of year. 9-year-old Schuylkill County native kicks off Pennsylvania Farm Show "Looking for a pair of thermals, looking for thermals. Bridge Completion In Stroud Township Delayed Again

Monroe County residents expecting a new bridge for Christmas are saying bah-humbug. The Glenbrook Road Bridge in Stroud Township was expected to reopen at the end of this month after being closed for over four years. But we’re told the contractor has once again run into some problems. To nearby residents dismay, the design has to be reconfigured again. There’s lots of activity today at the bridge project on Glenbrook Road in Stroud Township. But recently PennDOT confirms the contractor halted work as they were back to the drawing board. PennDOT District 5 Press Officer Ron Young says, "Had some issues with the cofferdam system. They had to redesign it so we had a bit of another setback. We’re hoping in the springtime is when things will get done."
