LVHN Partners with Pocono Raceway to Expand Blue Envelope Program to Monroe County

LVHN will partner with Pocono Raceway and Monroe County Law Enforcement in the initiative aimed to improve communication between police officers and special-needs drivers Long Pond, Pa. (April 29, 2025) – After introducing the Blue Envelope Program to both Lehigh and Northampton Counties, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), part of Jefferson Health, will now expand the program aimed at helping communication between special-needs drivers and police officers to Monroe County. On April 29 at 11 a.m., LVHN will host an event at the Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital Inclusive Playground at Pocono Raceway to distribute Blue Envelopes to Monroe County police departments.

burn_ban.jpg Burn Bans BURN BAN IN EFFECT.   Stroud Township has issued a burn ban effective immediately.  This includes campfires and wood fires for outdoor food preparation. Manufactured gas grills can be used for outdoor food preparation. East Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg Borough have burning ordinances that prohibit open burning other than cooking devices.   Please be aware of this as the conditions are currently very dry and windy which is creating very dangerous wildfire conditions.

Track shows out at Cavalier Invitational

Saturday, April 26, East Stroudsburg South held an Invitational meet with nine schools. The SHS girls took first place, while the SHS boys took second at this meet. After dropping a nail-bitingly close match to South earlier in the week, Stroudsburg took a trip over the bridge one last time with revenge in mind. Opening the meet, Alena Murray, ’25, continued her dominance in sprinting as she took first in the 100m, running 12.37, while also placing third in the 200m. In the 400m, Julianna Mccallister, ’26, and Phoebe Winkelman, ’28, took second and third for the girls, raking in even more points for the team. Julia Grant, ’26, brought in yet another first-place finish for the Mounties in the 800m, finishing in 2:21.20.

This four-episode, limited series follows very real themes like family conflict, growing up, and most importantly, masculinity.

Woman scammed out of $5,000 after Facebook hack

CHESTNUT HILL TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are investigating after a woman lost $5,000 during a Facebook hack. According to Pennsylvania State Police, a 62-year-old woman from Gilbert reported losing $5,000 to a scammer who impersonated a former friend. Police say the scammer accessed and used her friend's Facebook account to lure friends to invest money through a fake investment company. Lackawanna DA confirms 3 teens in custody after Olyphant shooting Troopers stated that the victim was told to convert her deposits to Bitcoin and then send them to the scammer.
