Army Depot opens doors on new facility

COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Tobyhanna Army Depot cutting the ribbon on its new micro-electronics manufacturing facility. The Department of Defense depends on global supply chains to provide microelectronics for its military weapons systems. But, shortfalls and the possibility of counterfeit parts represents a significant risk so the depot created its own manufacturing facility. Kohberger’s defense team summons five people "So what this will be used in: everything. Think anything that's it. So from radio systems to radar systems to night vision goggles. Anything with electricity going through it, you have microelectronics that are involved in it," said Maj. Gen. James Turinetti, Coolbaugh Township.

Judge summons five people in Kohberger case

(WBRE/WYOU)— According to a release from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the order has summoned witnesses to Monroe County to testify on the criminal proceeding pending in the State of Idaho. These five people include Ralph Vecchio, Maggie Sanders, Jesse Harris, Ann Parham, and Brandon Andreola. All of these people have either who lived, worked, or done business in MonroeCounty. Kohberger's connection to these five people is unknown at this time. Kohberger is accused of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho students in a home invasion attack. Kohberger's trial is set to begin August 11 and end November 7

Veterinary clinic burns in Monroe County fire

ROSS TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Crews were called early Thursday morning for a fire at a veterinary clinic in Monroe County. According to fire crews, the call came in around 4:15 at the Best Friends Veterinary Clinic in Ross Township. PSP announces detours ahead of Pocono Race

EFFORT, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are giving drivers some information on traffic patterns involving construction projects in the area of the upcoming Pocono Races. State police say the Pocono Races are set to kick off on Saturday, June 21, and continues into Sunday, June 22. Authorities explain that flaggers will be in Effort, Monroe County, at the 115 project to let Southbound traffic from the race to continue through on the following times: Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Beyond 12:00 p.m. on Monday and for the overnight hours, troopers say Chestnut Township is letting drivers use White Church Road as an easier route to 715 Southbound, avoiding the sharp turn at the intersection of Sugar Hollow and 715, which will have signs for RV traffic to follow.

Chris's Restaurant will be having a ribbon cutting and open house on Saturday, June 7, at 11:00 a.m. to welcome the restaurant to the Poconos. Polish native Chris Lechowicz is a regarded culinary artist in the New York City Polish Community that aims to bring a unique blend of Polish and American cuisine to Stroudsburg.
