One dead after Easter motorcycle crash

SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a person has died after a motorcycle crash that occurred on Easter in Monroe County. On Sunday, April 20, around 6:00 a.m., police say they responded to a motorcycle crash on Stream Lane in Smithfield Township. They say it was later determined that a motorcycle lost control on a curve, traveled off the road, and hit a utility pole. Fire officials warn of increased forest fire risk On April 23, police say Michael Crumpler succumbed to his injuries from the crash. The investigation is ongoing, according to police.

Pocono Environmental Education Center’s Earth Day festival

On Saturday, April 26, the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) will be hosting its annual Earth Day festival. Softball falls to PME in extra innings

Yesterday, Stroudsburg softball fell to Pocono Mountain East (PME), 6-5, on the final play of the game. The Mounties got on the board in the top of the first inning after Elena Trotter,’25, doubled, and Pocono Mountain East committed an error, each scoring one run. A single by Trotter extended the Mounties’ lead to 3-0 in the top of the second inning. Trotter, along with her two hits in the first two innings, hit singles in both the seventh and ninth innings. She collected four hits in five at-bats. Pocono Mountain East took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. PME player Macenzie Stover singled, driving in two runs, to give the Cardinals the advantage, 4-3. Needing only three outs to win, Pocono Mountain East committed an error, blowing their lead, which tied the game in the top of the seventh. With the game knotted up at four, Stroudsburg and Pocono Mountain East headed into extra innings.

Boys’ tennis wraps the season with win against Bangor

On April 17, 2025, the Stroudsburg boys’ tennis team closed out their 2024–2025 season on a high note with a commanding 5–2 victory over Bangor High School. The win capped off a season of growth and development for the Mountaineers, who finished the year with a 6–10 record. Singles Results: Logan Casebolt, ’25, dominated Marco Marozzo,’25, in straight sets, 6–1, 6–3. Mason Ulmer, ’27, cruised past Quentin Lemak,’25, with a confident 6–3, 6–0 win. Keshav Persaud, ’26, was nearly flawless in his 6–0, 6–2 victory over Liam Hayes, ’26. Darius Quintana, ’27, wrapped up singles play in style, dismantling Dylan Araujo, ’27, 6–3, 6–0. Doubles Results: Dhyey Savaliya, ’26, and James Lee, ’27, battled through a tough three-set match to defeat Dennis Antunes, ’27, and Jack Lambert, ’26, 7–6, 5–7, 10–8.
