SHS Mock Trial preps for event on November 23, 2024.
The Stroudsburg High School Mock trial club began preparations for hosting a big competition on Nov 23, 2024.
The club started the 2024-2025 school year with a large increase in student interest with more than 50 people joining the google classroom. Unlike last year, around 20 people attend each meeting now.
“We have had a surprising amount of interest in the club and I’m really excited about this year,” says English teacher and club advisor Robert Wood.
Mock Trial is a club that revolves around U.S. law, court cases, and the court system. It is essentially a simulation of what a trial in court is like: playing the roles of law attorneys, both prosecution and defense, plus witness(s).
Members are given a court case to go through, read through each detail, and examine every witnesses statement. This year, Wood implemented a new system to help our teams better organize themselves.

Each year band director, Mr. Harold Cassidy works hard with other members of Stroudsburg’s staff to create a new halftime show for Friday night football corresponding to a chosen theme.
This year’s theme was titled “Legendary,” featuring “Mad World” by Gary Jules, “Demons” by Imagine Dragons, “Legendary” by Bon Jovi, and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.

Sit and Stitch!
Next session: Monday, November 18th!
Immerse yourself in creativity at Hughes Library’s Sit & Stitch event! Whether you’re an experienced crafter or just starting out, all crafts and skill levels are welcome. Bring your own project—be it knitting, crocheting, embroidery, or any other craft—and join us every 1st and 3rd Monday from 3:30pm to 5pm in the Community Room.
Our gatherings are self-guided and focus on enjoying the company and conversation as much as the crafting. There’s no formal instruction or supplies provided, but you’ll find a supportive atmosphere where fellow crafters are happy to lend an ear or a hand. Drop in for a while or stay the whole time—either way, it’s a great chance to connect with others while indulging in your favorite craft!
