Moravian University, located in Bethlehem, Pennslyvnia is approximately 280 years old. The college is home to a multitude of spirits and ghost stories of its own. “The Shadow” This mysterious tale takes place in the music building on the south side of Moravian’s campus. Shane Hansen was in the coffee house and wanted to grab a drink from the vending machine on the second floor of the music building on a Wednesday night. While getting a drink, Hansen noted that there was a stairwell that lead down to an exit door of the building. He looked down the staircase and saw a human figure looking back up at him. “It looked like a shadow and I couldn’t see any details,” Hansen reported. “It was probably about my size, maybe a bit bigger.” Hansen stated that the figure then turned and went through the door, leaving the building. In a panicked state, Shane Hansen turned and ran back to the coffee house.

Yet are we any better off? Guns and gun regulations are a main topic for the upcoming election. Guns have played an influential part in the security and safety of free education.  According to CNN, there have been 568 school shootings in the last ten years, since 2014. The year with the most shootings was 2023 with 82 school shootings alone. Democrats and Republicans have each taken their own stance on gun violence. Republicans want to let teachers carry firearms in school. Democrats are pushing gun regulations.

Quiet Valley will be hosting its 50th Annual Harvest Festival. This is their largest festival of the year. The Harvest Festival helps to keep 1800s farm life and traditions alive. Without the sharing of these skills, they would be lost to history. Janet Mishkin is their curator. It is being held at the Living Historical Farm, on 347 Quiet Valley Road, on Oct.12 and Oct.13, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Most activities on the farm are paid with cash only.  They demonstrate apple butter making, candle dipping, rye straw crafts, and more. There is something to see for all ages. Kids who are K-4 have their own area to do crafts and activities. The Children’s Heritage area includes children’s games and pumpkin decorating. The festival has a gift shop. They sell fresh produce, food, and other handmade items.  Admission for adults is $18 and for kids ages 3-13, it’s $10.
