Working to Prevent Further Delays on Glenbrook Bridge ProjectThe Glenbrook bridge has been closed since August 2020 due to damage from Tropical Storm Isaias. While construction began in October 2022, there have been challenges with obtaining permits and managing environmental restrictions. The residents of our community have shown great patience, but I know frustration is growing as we passed the fourth year of the Glenbrook Bridge being out of service. I’ve been working with the contractor and coordinating with PennDOT and DEP to streamline the necessary approvals and avoid further delays.

Canadensis, once a bustling village at the intersection of Route 447 and Route 390, has faced years of decline. With many of its buildings now in disrepair, the township has recently begun taking action. Property owners in the area have started receiving fines and violations as part of an effort to address the condition of their properties.
Have you ever wondered how the idea of float building came to be? Teens— Building structures on a moving platform, on a shoestring budget, and letting teenagers ride on it parading around town– really? Who thinks of this? Long story short- someone a really long time ago.
The original float tradition started decades ago, though it has had its changes. Many years ago, our stadium used to have grass with a concrete track which served as the parade route. As our school, society, and community have changed, our traditions have changed as well.
As the principal for over 20 years, Mr. Sodl has witnessed many parades and many skits performed.
“There was one float with an actual ship built on it with smoke and cannon balls that actually shot out. Some of the dynamics of some of [the floats] and the special effects have been pretty interesting over time,” remarked Sodl, in remembrance of past floats.
It’s that time again when students get to ditch the khaki pants and polos to sport a new look every day in conjunction with the traditional Homecoming Spirit Week challenge.
Each day has a different theme so get prepared. The Mountaineer Newspaper social media team will be out and about looking for unique and fun costumes to post for daily updates.
