Story Walk at Wiley Preserve

Join the Coolbaugh Township Environmental Advisory Council and the Pocono Mountain Public Library for a Story Walk at the Wiley Preserve located at 549 Laurel Drive, Tobyhanna. The Story Walk is being held on Saturday May 18, 2024 from 1-3pm. The featured book is Fletcher and the Springtime Blossoms by Julia Rawlinson. This is a Free event that is open to the public. Come on out and experience a great day of reading along the trail.

Rain or shine, the race begins at 9:00 AM with check in and walk-in registration at 8:00 AM.

Proceeds benefit Special Recreation Services, Inc., a non-profit organization assisting with recreation, socialization and habilitation programs for adults who are intellectually disabled, autistic, and/or mentally ill in Northeastern PA.  For more information regarding the organization, go to www.specialrecreationservices.org.

Women wanted in alleged $3K Poconos retail theft

POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Two women are wanted in an alleged $3,000 theft from a store at the Pocono Premium Outlets.

The Pocono Township Police Department announced they are seeking help in identifying the suspects pictured below.

According to police, the two individuals above were involved in stealing $3,000 worth of product from the Sunglass Hut at the Pocono Premium Outlets on April 20.

Monroe County non-profit helping Haiti

Violence continues to ravage communities in Haiti. Newswatch 16's Emily Kress spoke with the founder of a non-profit that helps provide aid to the people of Haiti.

MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — For months, the people of Haiti in the capital city of Port-Au-Prince have experienced gang violence. In February, gangs launched several attacks on the government.

28/22 News Reporter Iyee Jagne met up with Samuel Thrall and gave us a look at the Monroe County Public Safety Center and the teen’s role there.

14-year-old Samuel Thrall is a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Amateur Radio Association (EPARA.)
