The borough of Stroudsburg has implemented a new Short-term Rental Ordinance and refined zoning regulations to prohibit short term rentals in residential districts (R-1, R-2 and R-3) and allow it in all other zoning districts. STROUD TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Detectives announced a man pleaded guilty and was sentenced for his involvement in drug delivery that resulted in the death of a 33-year-old Stroudsburg man.
On March 18, 2023 the victim, Steven Nitschke was found deceased in his Stroud Township apartment. The Stroud Area Regional Police Department along with the Monroe County Office of the District Attorney, Criminal Investigations Division, investigated and were able to trace back the source of the drugs.
The source was Edwin Burgos, a 39 year old co-worker of Steven’s. Burgos was arrested and charged by Detective Kim Lippincott in August of 2023 after investigators were able to obtain enough evidence showing that he delivered the deadly dose.

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Police in Monroe County are trying to identify a biker they say recklessly rode through the streets of Stroudsburg last week.
On May 9 around 7:30 p.m., a Stroud Area Regional Police officer said they saw an unregistered dirt bike illegally passing cars on Main Street. The officer said he tried to stop the dirt bike, but the rider immediately fled and drove off onto the sidewalk.
