From April 6 to 9, Stroudsburg Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the State Leadership Conference (SLC) in Hersey, Pennsylvania. This year, Stroudsburg brought 70 students to compete at the state level, with the hopes of advancing to Nationals.  FBLA members attended various workshops in between competing. These workshops are designed to allow students to learn more about leadership and business, as well as network with other committed students and workshop leaders. The workshops are taught and led by a variety of different individuals from a range of careers such as nurses, project managers, CEOs, marketing managers, and more! In addition to the workshops, the students spent Monday taking the opportunity to watch their fellow members compete in their presentation events. Students who were competing in testing events were provided with a specific time to take the next level of their exam.

The Spanish Four and Five classes at Stroudsburg High School have a fun teamworking project at the end of the year, where students come together in groups to plan and bring a skit based on a fairy tale to life. “Cuentos de hadas,” Spanish for “fairy tales,” usually contain a structure of animals attacking, a happy ending, and characters who are fantastical in some way (witches, talking animals, etc). After students wrote a storyline, they had to design props, create sound effects, find music, and make a background for the Promethean board while they presented. Some kids even invited their teachers, who happened to have a prep or lunch period at the time, to come watch. All the students were happy with their work and had positive comments about the project.

Art is more than just a canvas and paint. It encompasses many careers and human activities such as calligraphy, sculpting, music, theater, and so much more. It is a form of expression present throughout history that transcends the limitations of linguistic barriers — stirring emotion, regardless of differentiating perspectives, beliefs, language, and religion. The Stroudsburg High School’s Senior Art Exhibition was on display May 1, and is a fairly new gallery showing for art students, having been in its third year. For this event, the seniors created biographies and decorated their part of the table in the art hallway and classrooms, depicting each of their unique and individual pieces of art.

The next meeting of the East Stroudsburg Council of Trustees is scheduled for Thursday, June 5, 2025. Committees and the full board will meet as follows: Committee Meetings Time: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1:30 – 4 p.m. Council of Trustees Full Board Meeting Time: 4 p.m. The Council of Trustees will meet both in person and via zoom. In-person meetings will be held at the East Stroudsburg University Rosenkrans Learning Center. However, we continue to offer the option to participate via zoom.

TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — In Monroe County, veterans and their families gathered at the war memorial in Tannersville. They paused to remember the sacrifices made. American Legion Post 903 and its auxiliary hosted the annual event. A wreath-laying ceremony was held, and several veterans spoke on their time in the service while remembering their fallen brothers and sisters.
