Hi neighbors,I feel the need to check in with my fellow Paradise township residents. How do you feel about open space? l have been a supporter of our Open Space fund since its inception. At this Monday’s Paradise Township Board of Supervisors meeting, I was disappointed to see the supervisors pass on an opportunity to protect a 70-acre property that lies in Paradise and a neighboring municipality that doesn’t have an open space fund. I work for Pocono Heritage Land Trust. We applied for two grants to buy the property to make it a public nature preserve. We were turned down for one of them (it was a bit of a stretch – they fund water protection and while this property protects water, it doesn’t contain any water bodies). I went to the Paradise supervisors to ask them to contribute $230,000 (50% of the cost) from our Open Space Fund toward the purchase of the property.

POCONO TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are searching for suspects who allegedly used counterfeit cash at multiple stores across Monroe County. According to the Pocono Township Police Department, officers are trying to identify the suspects pictured. Pocono Township Police Six wanted for alleged retail theft at Pocono Outlets Investigators said the suspects are accused of passing counterfeit money at multiple businesses in Pocono Township. 

Monroe County commissioners voted Monday to approve millage rate decreases, also cutting into county property taxes for 2024.

TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are investigating multiple retail thefts that occurred at the Pocono Premium Outlets as they search for six suspects involved. The Pocono Township Police Department is currently investigating two separate retail thefts at the Pocono Premium Outlets over the past two months. Police say on July 27 four people, pictured below entered Gap and stole multiple items from the store.
