Attention Library of the Smithfields Patrons! This week, our Kids Book Nook will be undergoing repairs. Due to this, access to the room will vary from limited to no access, starting Tuesday and continuing through the week. During times when access is limited, all children ages 12 and under will require parental supervision due to the presence of equipment. As well, due to the repairs, no loitering will be allowed and the room will be used for browsing materials only! As well, this may also mean an increase in noise. We appreciate your patience with us and hope to accommodate to the best of our capabilities during the repairs! The Madelon Powers Gallery of East Stroudsburg University will host the Annual Student Artist Guild and Juried Art + Media + Design Student Exhibition from March 27 to April 12. Entries will include a wide array of artistic media, including paintings, graphic design, product design, drawing, photography, film, video, digital painting, sculpture, mixed media, 3D prints and more. This year’s exhibit will also include the work created by the Student Minecraft Club. The Student Artist Guild, an award-winning and dedicated student organization that promotes cultural enrichment for the campus and larger community, oversees organizing the exhibition. Prizes will be awarded that will celebrate the participants’ exceptional talent and hard work.

A Monroe County park is expanding as more property is added to it. Pocono Township is in the process of buying a little over five acres next to TLC Park on Route 611. It includes one of the last historic properties in Tannersville. Driving along Route 611 in Tannersville, the building known as Glenwood Hall sticks out as a glimpse of the past. Real Estate Broker for Glenwood Hall Property Jennifer Wise says, "The front building was from 1832. It really is the last true historic building on the Pocono Township corridor on 611." And it won’t be lost. It’s set to live on exactly how the owners envisioned. Wise says, "They’re delighted that that will be preserved. They painstakingly maintained the front building that has 10 units in it over the years. And it was their parents wish that it would be preserved for a park."
