Teacher Feature on Mr. Zimmerman

At which school in the district do you teach? This year I started teaching at the Junior High and recently transferred to the high school. What subject(s) do you teach? For 27 years I taught marine science, invertebrate biology, and biology at the Junior High School.  Since I have made the move to the high school I teach only biology classes. How long have you been teaching at SASD?  27 years! What is your favorite part about teaching? I enjoy being busy, and teaching is definitely a busy job.  No two days are the same.  Coaching two varsity sports makes the days even busier.  I absolutely love being busy!!! What is one piece of advice you would share with your students? Do your best to stay away from drama. Who do you look up to?

Go Ahead, Make my (Snow)Day

Season 4, Episode 37 - The Pocono Mountains has long been a pioneer in snowmaking from the early days at Big Boulder to today where the biggest and most advanced operation is at Blue Mountain Resort (https://www.poconomountains.com/listing/blue-mountain-resort/1129/ ) in Palmerton. The crews there have been cranking out the white stuff full bore this winter with some very cold temperatures (they needed that) and a large investment in the technology that makes the mountain one of the industry leaders. The resort has 40 trails open, which is such a testament to the work behind the scenes to make snow even when Mother Nature doesn't provide it!

Meals on Wheels planning around winter weather

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — With grey skies at Monroe County Meals on Wheels in Stroudsburg and snow in the forecast, early morning packing is on the agenda.  Executive director Alyssa Koeck and special events coordinator Stacey Koeck are busy assembling emergency bags with shelf-stable items, like soup and apple sauce, to be given to clients in case they need to cancel deliveries. Alyssa says keeping an eye on the weather is part of the job.  "That way we can pull our deliveries back, we can make sure clients have emergency bags, and we can just be as prepared as we possibly can.” The nonprofit that provides meals to more than 300 homebound or disabled adults in the county has already had to cancel once last week due to the weather.  A hot cocoa bar was set up to show thanks for their dedicated volunteers.
