PBR comes to Steel City
Pittsburgh has its fair share of professional sports teams like: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, but one sport you may not expect to see in Pittsburgh is bull riding. That’s right — the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) is coming to the Steel City.
Pittsburgh is hosting the Premier Series tour in January of 2025, with the host city being Pennsylvania´s own Pittsburgh. The competition will be held inside PPG Paints Arena the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins from January 24-25 2025. The PBR fans of Pittsburgh and beyond are excited to watch their favorite bull riders take on the Steel City.
With the PBR coming to Pittsburgh, fans have one common question, why? Why pick Pittsburgh, of all places, to host the PBR?
Strunk hits 1000 point milestone
Tuesday, The Lady Mountaineers won over district rival Pocono Mountain East for the second time this season 53-36.
The Mountaineers and Cardinals fought a competitive game. They were neck and neck throughout the first and second quarters. They kept finding themselves tied with the Cardinals 18-18, 24-24, and 28-28. The Mountaineers took the lead after the third quarter putting them at a 31-28.
Mckayla Strunk, ’25, hit a career-high of 1000 points. She has also broken the school’s record for most 3-pointers with 131 points. She also ended this game with a whopping 32 points.
McKayla Strunk, ’25, shared that she is relieved to reach this goal and the only thing that got her through the game was knowing that “everyone in the gym believed she could do it.”
This now leaves the Mountaineers 12-3 for the winter regular season.
Stroudsburg’s next game is against their biggest rival East Stroudsburg South today at 6 at South.
Teens, social media, and mental health
Imagine a world where the silence of a deactivated app echoes louder than the constant buzz of notifications. As governments around the world are working towards banning social media platforms for adolescents, people question: Could unplugging be the cure for our mental health crisis– or will it simplify feelings of isolation in a hyperconnected world?

Pa Lottery awards seven million to lucky couple
A lucky couple in Monroe County won seven million dollars during an ordinary run to the store.
WFMZ-TV reported Shana Juhasz usually buys a Powerball, Mega Millions, or a random “feeling lucky” ticket; however, when she went to buy some sweet treats for her daughter, she somehow wound up with a very blessed Cash4Life ticket.
Shana will use some of the money to help with her schooling since she is learning how to become a nurse practitioner, and Stephen Juhasz III, her husband, will use it to pay off his student loans as well.
They also have plans to invest, save, and take the family on a trip to Disney.
The Cash4Life winning came with a hard decision to make: One thousand dollars every day for the rest of your life or a seven million cash prize?

Their first priority is to make sure the field is upgraded to be a safe playable environment, from the surface to the protective netting to the fence surrounding the field.
