PUBLIC NOTICEThe Monroe County Commissioners announce the availability of the Request for Funding Proposal (RFP) applications for the 2024 Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). RFPs will be accepted by the Monroe County Commissioners in one stage: the Organization Program Budget and the full proposal due on or before Monday, August 12th, 2024. Proposals must be returned in the format described in the Request for Funding Proposal (RFP) packet to the Monroe County Fiscal Affairs Office by the dates listed above. Applications will only be accepted if an organization submits a Program Budget and proposal by the deadline with no exceptions.

Route 611 on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware Water Gap could be reopening soon, much to the relief of officials in Knowlton on the Jersey side.A temporary, free-standing rockfall barrier will be installed along the section of 611 where the rockslide occurred in December of 2022, closing the roadway.

DELAWARE WATER GAP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Having been closed since December 2022, the reopening of part of Route 611 in the Poconos is finally in sight. Businesses like the Historic Castle Inn have seen fewer customers since the closure. “Some of the signage confused people and they thought that we were closed but we’re not,” says Scott Fabian. But now the end is in sight as the National Parks Service (NPS) and PennDOT have come to an agreement to reopen the road and install a temporary free-standing rockfall barrier. The good news is a breath of fresh air for Fabian. “We all tried to move forward and deal with the closure because it really did kind of clamp down on as many people that were coming into town.”
