Senate Passes Bill Benefitting Career and Technical Schools
Career and technical education prepare students for rewarding, family-sustaining careers, often at a significantly reduced cost compared to attending college. Pennsylvania is in great need of people with this training, and there are many job openings waiting to be filled.
To ensure people have the training needed for these jobs, the Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 315. The legislation would provide more certainty regarding grant funding for career and technical education equipment by making funding calculations before the school year in which the allocation occurs.

From Detention to Denial: Prom Ban Raises Questions About Equity in Local Schools
From: Erica Harris, Monroe County ParentAs a parent and resident of Monroe County, I am compelled to speak out against Stroudsburg High School’s current disciplinary policies—particularly the decision to bar students from attending prom due to minor infractions such as being late to class or forgetting their student ID.My son, Bryce Harris, began attending Stroudsburg High in January 2024. He has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and, like many students facing life’s challenges, he has worked hard to adjust to his new environment. Yet rather than being met with understanding or support, he has faced escalating disciplinary measures for transitional missteps that are not reflective of his character or effort. Now, like many others, he is being denied the opportunity to attend prom—an experience many students dream of their entire childhood.
Stroudsburg loses a close game against Emmaus
Is this considered a win?
On Tuesday, Stroudsburg softball loss against Emmaus 3-2.
The Mountaineers played hard and kept up the Hornets throughout the game and lost in the very end by a walk off.
Jordan Cook ’27 quotes ” It’s impressive knowing that Emmaus has always been a strong team. We should be proud that our game was only 2-3 instead of 1-11 like last year.”
She also adds her thoughts on the team and how much they have improved and said “our team has improved so much since last year, taking wins away from Lehigh Valley teams that beat and/or mercied us. We’ve broken years of winning streaks for teams like Easton and Northampton, who’s been beating us since 2016.”
These are the stats for the game:
PA senator challenges church and state
Pennsylvania Senator Doug Mastriano (R) is proposing legislation, Senate Bill 544 (SB544), or “Creation of Laws in our Schools Act”, requiring public schools to display the Ten Commandments (and three other “foundational documents”) in all classrooms.
The push for displaying the Ten Commandments in Pennsylvania public schools comes from the efforts to promote moral values, though it faces legal challenges over the separation of church and state. Kentucky, Texas, Alabama, and Louisiana are also trying for this push as well.
