On behalf of Paradise Township, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has completed preliminary plans to replace the open grate bridge carrying Red Rock Road over Paradise Creek. The horizontal alignment and vertical profile will not change but the bridge will be widened slightly to accommodate pedestrians and a larger water table. Signs and safety features will be upgraded. A driveway in proximity to the bridge will be relocated slightly to allow for upgraded safety features and improve sight distance. The downstream streambank will be fortified to prevent further erosion and sediment deposition will be removed from the stream. Four properties will be impacted by the project. No permanent right-of-way acquisition is anticipated but permanent slope easements and approximately 9,000 square feet of temporary construction easement will be required. Three overhead utility poles will require relocation and no underground facilities are present.

Of the two people that spoke in favor of the raise the first woman directly works for the man getting the raise and the second woman is a member of the local school board which has also raised taxes exorbitantly the last several years while only about 50% of students can do reading and math at grade level. She also is a relative of one of the Council members which voted for the pay raise.

COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Wednesday afternoon crash backed up traffic along Interstate 380 (I-380) in Monroe County. The Monroe County Communications Center stated that a crash occurred Wednesday afternoon on I-380 Southbound near mile marker 6. Officials confirmed there are injuries, but the severity and number of injuries are unknown.
